Do or Dive

By Emily Cementina

The
bar
where I
meet
the
barista
who
worked
at
the
coffee
shop
where
I’d sit
I thought
I was
a novelist
then
Anyway
he and I meet
to drink
outdoors
umbrellas
smokers
and their
ashtrays
We find his friends
don’t mean to
they’re just there
They talk
about
a house
they
shared
with their
dealer
parties
for days
My date
he could get me anything
When we kiss
I am not
at all
surprised
his lips
are air
